Day 15

Whoooo! Yesterday was insane. Right now there's about 10 kids around me watching me write.

It's been about 3 hours since I wrote that, and I'm still in Gunung-Sitoli. It's blazing hot, I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I desperately want to go back to Sorake Beach. I have some terrible gas, and I really just want to go in the ocean.

It's been a wild couple of days. Yesterday (after my journal entry) a man from the American Embassy came to the village looking for me. He was there with a UN helicopter that was to take me to Sibolga. They took me to the airport near Sibolga. From there I took a bus to Sibolga. I was able to call my family members. I talked to my mom first, and then to my dad and Jackie(my other mom). Then I called my friend Dustin, and I called Ryan at C&O.

When I went into Sibolga, I went to the ATM. I met some locals who were very interested in speaking english with me. They took me around the town, and helped me to get food, buy film for my camera, and use the internet. It was pretty awesome. God had that all set up for me. I finally got to try "Pisang Goreng"(Fried Bananas). They were delicious. They took me to the bus terminal and got me on a bus back to the airport.

When I got to the airport there were no more flights to Nias. I ended up hanging out with a group of Indonesian Air Force all night. They took me around town and got me some food and drink. They let me sleep on a military cot in the tent with them. It was pretty awesome. It's tough to put into words how cool it was.

I woke up this morning at around 7:00am. I got on the first helicopter flight to Gunung-Sitoli, and I've been here ever since. It's well past noon now, and I really want to get the heck down to Teluk-Dalam. I've talked to a lot of people here, though, and it's been good. Some guy gave me a Bahasa to English dictionary. I've really needed one for a while. I've talked to a bunch of locals too, so that's been cool. I'm just really tired right now, and I want to be selfish. I want to go to the village and take a nap. We'll see how things work out. I know God has a plan in everything on this trip. So I trust you Lord. I trust you.
